Stephenson to Louisville

Reds top prospect and RHP Robert Stephenson has been promoted and will start Friday night for Triple-A Louisville.

Also, Reds LHP Tony Cingrani will begin a rehab assignment.

Cingrani is expected to start the resumption of Thursday night’s suspended game against Columbus, set to resume at 5 p.m. Stephenson is expected to start the regularly scheduled game to begin 30 minutes after the completion of Thursday’s 
Stephenson, 22, went 4-7 with a 3.68 ERA in 14 starts while averaging 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings at Double-A Pensacola to start the season. He posted a 2.53 ERA in five June starts.

Going to have to move faster Mark as Neb already posted it. Just kidding. Neb does get a lot of info. Keep up the good work, both of you.

You know, I beginning to suspect that Cingrani is extremely brittle. He’s hurt far too much recently; reminds me of Mesoraco…he has had a number of hurts as well. Too bad, both are talented when on the field.

I commented back when he went to the DL about his injuries. So what if and when he comes back, we’ll get a few appearances from him and then he’ll get pounded, then he’ll be back on the DL. I believe this is the last 2 year history. Wish him the best, I like him, but don’t think he has the stamina for the big leagues.

I said that when we had Arroyo and everybody wanted to get rid of him said Cingrani would take his place and I said no he won’t because he is prone to injury the way he throws.

I said that too. Lol

Wonder if they try and make Stephenson a reliever to save on his innings ? Lol
