Four spring games on TV

Fox Sports Ohio announced that four Reds Cactus League exhibition games will be televised.

All are vs. the Indians on the following dates:

March 4 at 3 p.m. ET
March 5 at 3 p.m. ET
March 17 at 4 p.m. ET
March 26 at 4 p.m. ET

Mark, anything on MLB televising the Reds on their Spring Training schedule.

Afraid I have yet to see one. If I do, I will try to post it here.

Okay, Spring Training Advent Calendar window #7: Brandon Phillips and his attorney are on a conference call with Kenner Toys’ V.P. of Product development. Phillips is hawking a practice device to teach young players to field like him. The V.P. says, ‘Now, let me see if I understand your idea: it’s a square metal frame about the size of a card table, with a leg you stretch out so the frame stands up on the ground, and the inside of the frame is filled with rubbery mesh. And the kid throws the ball and it bounces back to him. Right?’ ‘Right!’ ‘and you’re calling this ” Pitch Back”?’ ‘Yep!’ ‘Any flashing lights?’ ‘Nah.’ ‘Video screens?’ ‘Nah.’ ‘Loud explosions?’ ‘Nah.’ ‘Hmmm, I don’t know …’

So here is how Chapmans arbitration hearing will go. So the guy only hit 100 MPH on the gun like 100 times last year which was most in baseball but less than last year. Oh and he had the highest average strike out rate ever and he basically came back from his head being split open with no fear to get back to allstar form. Then the arbitrator asks the Reds to respond and sees Chapmans agent on the other side saying uhhh that was the Reds. So I have nothing further to add? The arbitrator looks at the Reds confused and awards Chapman his money…

This is very promising news:
•Cuban right-hander Raisel Iglesias, signed by the Reds to a seven-year, $27MM contract last summer, has a legitimate chance to end up in Cincinnati’s rotation, writes John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer in looking at 10 pertinent questions facing the Reds as Spring Training approaches. Scouts in the Arizona Fall League and manager Bryan Price all raved to Fay about Iglesias’ AFL performance. “Four pitches with command — that spells out starting pitcher, especially when it’s plus-stuff across the board,” Price said. “He was 93-97, so the velocity is there. The action on his fastball is there, much better changeup than I anticipated seeing and two quality breaking balls and a good feel.” If Iglesias can indeed crack the rotation, that could be a significant boost to a team that saw both Mat Latos and Alfredo Simon depart via trade this winter.

Doesn’t sound like “IF” should be part of the equation.
