Reds Draft through 10 rounds

Between my well-chronicled laptop issues this week and with me covering the 2014 Draft Thursday and Friday, there hasn’t been a ton of coverage of the regular news here on the blog. I hope to have things back to normal on Saturday.

One thing from associate reporter Manny Randhawa’s notebook today — Mat Latos seemed pretty miffed about having to make another rehab assignment start. Click here to read about that.

Click here to read some information I have on the players taken from Rounds 3-10.

Here is the list of the players selected by the Reds thus far:

Rd Player Pos. B-T Age Ht. Wt. DOB School (Hometown)
1 Nick Howard RHP R-R 21 6-4 215 4/6/93 University of Virginia (Buffalo, NY)

A Alex Blandino SS R-R 21 6-0 190 11/6/92 Stanford University (San Jose, CA)

2 Taylor Sparks 3B R-R 21 6-4 225 4/3/93 University of California-Irvine (Long Beach, CA)

3 Wyatt Strahan RHP R-R 21 6-3 215 4/18/93 University of Southern California (Villa Park, CA)

4 Gavin LaValley 3B R-R 19 6-3 215 12/28/94 Carl Albert High School (Choctaw, OK)

5 Tejay Antone RHP R-R 20 6-4 215 12/5/93 Weatherford Junior College (Mansfield, TX)

6 Jose Lopez RHP R-R 20 6-1 195 9/1/93 Seton Hall University (Cranbury, NJ)

7 Shane Mardirosian 2B L-R 18 5-11 175 10/13/95 Martin Luther King High School (Riverside, CA)

9 Brian Hunter RHP R-R 21 6-3 205 11/22/92 University of Hartford (Port Jefferson Station, NY)

10 Seth Varner LHP L-L 22 6-3 225 1/27/92 Miami University (Batavia, OH)

Maybe we can call all of them up tomorrow–bet they could score at least one run…

That way they could skip the Reds’ minor leagues and their philosophy on hitting and base running.
