Left quad strain for Votto

The MRI results on Joey Votto are in. He has a left distal quadriceps strain. Votto will not be placed on the disabled list, as of now. But there will be more discussion of the issue later.

Quotes from manager Bryan Price:

“It means there’s a reason for the soreness and the fatigue in the leg,” Price said. “We’ll collect as an organization after the game today and try to define the best course of either rehab or the best decision for Joey and the club.”

Considering the track record of Votto’s left knee, the MRI results are considered good news.

“I don’t think initially the feeling was that it was going to be chronic or long-term debilitating,” Price said. “But until you check anybody out, you don’t know what you can find. Yeah, it is a collective sigh of relief for sure that it’s not anything serious. It looks like all the structural stuff in the knee is great and intact. That’s the positive thing to this point.”

May be wrong about this, BUT—Votto’s injury again brings into question the Reds’ conditioning program on the front end and on the long recovery times so many of the players experience.

I agree. Too many injuries. Either that or they are a bunch of cry babies.

Game # 4 and still no bat to replace votto kind of insane to not DL the guy and keep the team shortstringed. We have 40 players on the roster, so surely there is someone who can be called up

The Reds don’t want to pay the major league salary to a call up would get. They do this all the time . They will call up somebody when they play 10 or 11 games without Votto and justify it with the ole “Day to Day ” and hoped the injury would respond to treatment. The more I think about it ,I’ve come to the conclusion that Votto is just another overpaid head case who will always be high maintenance.

Votto on the DL. Just what I said would happen. Only they waited until Bruce got heathy. What a joke.
