Latos has knee surgery

Reds Spring Training is off to a tough start already. Starting pitcher Mat Latos had knee surgery on Friday to repair a tear in the meniscus of his left knee.

The surgery was performed in Goodyear by team medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek. Latos is expected to return to his throwing program in 10 days.

Latos was injured a couple of days ago when he slipped while throwing. He also had off-season surgery in October to remove four bone chips from his right elbow and was progressing well.

More to come …. Walt Jocketty is talking to reporters soon here at the complex.

“Latos needs knee surgery” Pretty clever, Mark. A headline designed to give heart attacks to Reds’ fans everywhere. A bit sadistic, my friend.

Not being clever. He actually needed surgery.

Oh my, I was just pulling your chain. The point was that you headlined the knee surgery, and then told us (a relieved bunch) that he’d be throwing in 10 days. You could have trumpeted “minor knee surgery”. Do you not realize how we hang on your every word?

Hope they give him plenty of time to get ready. With a knee and elbow being repaired he/they need to be patient.
