Game 154: at PIT

Reds lineup vs. Pirates

Choo 8
Phillips 4
Votto 3
Ludwick 7
Bruce 9
Frazier 5
Cozart 6
Mesoraco 2
Latos 1

Time for all Reds players and fans to tighten up their collective jock straps and hope for a SWEEEEEEP !

I don’t know how many people will agree with me, but I believe the Reds have one thing that could win the division for them…Billy Hamilton. That is, providing St, Louis stumbles a little. Billy Hamilton was probably the key for at least 2 games he has played in so far. Every time he got on first the opposing pitcher made changes in pitching. When Hamilton stole 2nd, there was more change. He is, without a doubt, the difference in a close game. If the game with Pittsburg today (Friday) is close I would bring him in and “Let Billy Run”.

In my opinion, the key to making it into-through and around the WS lies in this part of the lineup…
Frazier 5
Cozart 6
Mesoraco 2
How these characters approach batting and plate discipline will be the key to the Reds success this year; again, only imo.
We have the SP that seldom if ever fails, we have the BP that has done it’s job, the D that can’t be equaled up the middle; Cozart, Phillips, Choo/Hamilton and Hanigan/Mesaroco. Now let’s let the Elephant out of the room…our lineup. The same lineup that performs well one night and then caves for a game or two. Well, the playoffs cannot provide such a comfort level or that level of hitting or play. This leads me to the above three fellows that on occasion have shown life, then the life vanishes.
We cannot afford a vanishing act of any sort. We just wiped out St. Louis and the LA Dodgers because, largely, due to the hitting of these two or three of these guys over the week (ie: 6-1). They best put on their straps and start playing some ball; they often don’t look the part at the plate. If they do, we should be on cruise control.
