Prior released by Reds

*It was announced by Triple-A Louisville on Friday that the Reds have released RHP Mark Prior after he was activated from the disabled list — thus stalling his latest comeback attempt.

Prior, who signed a Minor League contract with the Reds during Spring Training, had a 4.66era in seven games with the Bats. He had been on the DL since April 25 with a right shoulder strain.

It’s been a long comeback attempt for Prior, who has not pitched in the Majors since 2006. The former Cubs star had reconstructive shoulder surgery in 2007. The previous three seasons have been spent pitching in the Minors or independent leagues, including the Rangers, Yankees and Red Sox organizations.

*Also with Brandon Phillips returning from the paternity list, INF Henry Rodriguez was optioned to Louisville. Rodriguez did not get an at-bat during his two-game stint at Oakland.

It was stupid for Jocherty to have 3ever signed him. What a terrible GM needs to be sent to a forging county, Get him the H out of Cinci

It was stupid for Jockerty to have signed Prior in the first place. It shows you that he needs to take a long trip get him out of Redsland and never let him come back

It way a minor league deal. Who cares? It amounts to pennies for them.

Those are stupid remarks. Baseball is not a perfect science. WJ has proved himself many times in the past. His pluses outnumber his minuses by a large amount.

Is BluesMan Mike a Cubs fan and he wants Uncle Walt over Theo?
