Taking a few days

It’s time for me to hit the pause button at Spring Training and catch up with my family. So I will be off for a few days of R&R. While this blog won’t be updated until I return Friday, reds.com will be covered with the latest news and features. Please check there and enjoy.

Thanks for reading all spring thus far.

Highly deserved. Have a good break!

Do you have the minor league spring training schedule for the Reds?

I can’t find one for the Dodgers. Trying to find out when Duke might be playing. I;ll be in AZ this coming week.

Anyone have the 12 cut today….they posted 7 on “Transactions on the roster page but who are the other 5?????????????????????

Five non-roster invitees were also cut from major league camp and re-assigned to minor league camp, among which were infielder/outfielder Kris Negron, outfielder Ryan LaMarre, catcher Ashley, and pitchers Nick Christiani and Rogers (I’ve forgotten a couple of first names).

What do we thionk so far? Has real spring training started or do we wait till the WBC is over to begin getting an impression of the team?

An opposing NL scout tells FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal that the Reds “are crazy” if they use Aroldis Chapman as a starter. “It’s Joba Chamberlain all over again. His velocity dropped off in the second inning. He couldn’t get his off-speed stuff over the plate consistently. No question in my mind, he’s the closer,” the scout said. Meanwhile, Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News talked to several other scouts about Chapman and they were “nearly unanimous” that he is a better fit as a closer.
