Cingrani opens Cactus League play

Here is the list of Reds probable starters for the first several days. You’ll notice something different, especially the first few days:

Friday vs. CLE: Tony Cingrani
Saturday vs CLE: Alfredo Simon
Sunday vs. CLE: Sam LeCure
Monday vs. MIL: Armando Galarraga
Tuesday vs. SD: Homer Bailey
Weds. vs ARI: Johnny Cueto
Thurs split squad: Mike Leake and Aroldis Chapman
March 1 vs. KC: Mat Latos
March 2 vs. CWS: Bronson Arroyo

Most of the starters should get one or two innings of work the first time through. The days that Simon and LeCure start are essentially bullpen days.

“The young guys are probably more ready than the veteran guys,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “We have an extra seven games. You want them to be sharp and ready but you don’t want them to get those extra innings on them. Early we’ll put a lot of it on the young guys.”
