Reds add to 40-man roster

Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline for Major League clubs to protect players on 40-man rosters from the Rule 5 Draft. The Reds added six players.

RHP Carlos Contreras from Class-A Bakersfield.
RHP Daniel Corcino from Double-A Pensacola.
LHP Ismael Guillon from Class-A Dayton.
RHP Curtis Partch from Double-A Pensacola.
RHP Josh Ravin from Double-A Pensacola.
OF Yorman Rodriguez from Class-A Dayton.

Cincinnati’s 40-man roster currently stands at 39. That means the Reds could add a free agent without making a corresponding roster move or possibly make a selection at the Rule 5 Draft. I will have more details on the players added soon on

Mark – are there any players left off the Reds’ 40-man roster that stand a good chance of being claimed by another club?

The only names that stuck out to me as not protected we’re outfielder Juan Duran and pitcher Nick Christiani. I saw both play when called over to big league spring training games. Duran is a big dude but struggled this past season.

I don’t get the need to protect Yorman at this point. He’s a few years away from being able to play at the MLB level. Any team that picks him is wasting a pick and spot on their bench. The only reason he’s protected is cause the Reds have a lot of money invested in him. They should have protected Fellhauer, and better hope someone doesn’t pick him up. He could probably be a platoon/LH bench bat right now for some team that doesn’t have a lot of depth.

Corcino is the stud. Mark my words kids a 10 game winner next year. Futures game last year he was stunning….. against the major league club.

10 game winner at AAA?

Could Walt shock us one off-season and actually make a move early? He is starting to get to predictable lol
