Reds lineup vs. Phillies

Cozart 6
Stubbs 8
Phillips 4
Ludwick 7
Bruce 9
Rolen 5
Frazier 3
Hanigan 2
Bailey 1

*UPDATE — Mesoraco would normally catch Bailey. Wonder if his suspension is beginning tonight. I will update when we know.

*In four starts since July 31, Homer Bailey is 1-2 with an 8.24 ERA. He could definitely use a nice outing today, and the Reds certainly wouldn’t mind it opposite Philadelphia’s Cliff Lee.

*Hard to believe Lee has only two wins this season (2-7, 3.83). He is winless in his last 11 starts at home (0-6, 4.82).

Heading to the game at Citizens Bank Park tonight. Hopefully, we can bring home a win.

Looks like Dusty is making an asserted effort to win game 2 with Philadelphia. He’s got the first team starting and with Hanigan catching Bailey, which is significant. Stubbs usually plays better after a day off. A split in this series would be a plus for the Reds. They need to slow down the Philly offense. The Reds need to get back to the defense they were showing the first half of the season. Right now we’re seeing a defense that is a little sloppy.

Hey Mark, let me ask you a question away from the games quick. Let’s go back to the deadline deal the Reds made. I don’t want to question the players we traded or any of that. I know Broxton helps us now. But in your personal opinion. Do you feel that trade was made more for next year so that Chapman could be moved into the rotation and Broxton will be our closer?

I don’t think so. I think Broxton was brought on to give us the deepest relief of any playoff team. I think Chapman is now stuck as a reliever and we’ll never see what he could have been as a starter.

I don’t think so Mike. If Broxton was signed beyond this season, it’d be another story. He’s a free agent this winter. You can’t count on his being able to return. I think they might try Chapman in rotation again anyway..regardless of who they get to close.

Thank Mark. For some reason I thought Broxton was under our control for next year. You know that I’m on that bandwagon of making him a starter. But I do see the ups and downs of both sides. Tough not to give him the chance to do it, but also tough to put that arm at risk. If I had to make the final call. I would leave him exactly where he is right now, but would still always wonder….what could have been.

I think he is trying to say…..trade chapman, Votto and Dat dude and hire Rolen as the manager. Gary at his best ladies and gentlemen.

Where is the like button on this blog!?

Glad you asked. I just added it. Thanks. I didn’t realize it wasn’t on there.

The Cubs and Astros could use a guy like Rolen on their team next year, if Scotty feels up to being a de facto player/coach.
