Stubbs headed to Dayton

As strongly indicated on Wednesday, Reds CF Drew Stubbs will start a rehab assignment on Friday. It will be with Class A Dayton, the Reds’ affiliate announced Thursday.

It’s unknown how many games Stubbs will play for Dayton, but I’d expect only two or three.

Stubbs has not played for the Reds since straining his left oblique on June 5. He went on the DL last Friday and is eligible for activation tomorrow, but clearly the club wants to have this one final test first. Stubbs took batting practice Wednesday without issue.

Please have him bunting for basehits, it would really make him a better all around ballplayer.

Delino Deshields is the manager up in Dayton and he was a good bunter. Hopefully the Reds do have Delino work with Drew.

finally a league he can handle

strong, but true comment—but, sir if he he would use all the tools he has he would be at least close to Vada PINSON in all around ability .285-.300 hitter with 20-25 hrs and depending on the line-up spot good enough to be among the leagues best cfers in rbis and ablie to walk 80 times with continued sb possibilities His best may be un-able for the Reds to get out of him,a change in scenary may be needed —say Phillies or Twins with their way of playing.

Anyone familar with this 1B we got from the Indians? He was drafted two spots infront of Mesoraco in 2007.

Billy Hamilton, at High A ball, has played in 67 games (275 ab) – his results, 91 hits (1 HR, 8 triples, 13 doubles), 39 walks, 17 caught stealings (caughts stealing?), 82 stolen bases. Point is that he’s been on base 130 times (in 67 games) and attempted 99 steals. He’s also made 16 errors at SS. It’s high A, I know, I know, I know already! But maybe he’s a CF in waiting. Maybe one of our current Reds holds the position while we see. Meanwhile, what’s Stubbs trade value?
