5/18 at NYY

Reds lineup vs. Yankees

Cozart 6
Stubbs 8
Votto 3
Phillips 4
Bruce 9
Heisey 7
Frazier 5
Cairo DH
Hanigan 2

Arroyo 1

*Bronson Arroyo has a 5.45 ERA vs. the Yankees lifetime in eight games, including six starts. However, he has not faced them since 2005.

*Schedule change: The Sunday, June 10 game time vs. the Tigers was changed from 1:10 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET to accomodate ESPN Sunday Night Baseball

*Alex Rodriguez is 5-for-16 (.313) with one homer lifetime vs. Arroyo. On the other hand, Derek Jeter is 4-for-18 (.222).

*Brandon Phillips is sitting at 499 career RBIs. Phillips enters 5-for-16 on the road trip with two RBIs.

*Zack Cozart is 1-for-19 on the road trip.

*Chris Heisey is 7-for-12 on the trip.

*It’s an odd, but cool experience, to start a new series in the same city. I didn’t have to check out of my hotel or make a flight or anything. Definitely no complaints.

What does it say when we put in our DH Cairo? Probably not the strongest DH in baseball. Heck I would have loved for Reds Mgmt to go get Vlad for these games alone.

These seems prime for Mesoraco to DH. Come on Dusty think outside the box a little. Our Catchers are some of our best hitters.

Or Micah Owings….

I love how you’re implying 5-for-16 is so much better than 4-for-18. Looking strictly at the batting averages it does look like A-Rod is a lot better against Arroyo than Jeter but, really, the difference between the two at this sample size is insignificant…one more hit in 2 fewer ABs.

Yeah, bat the guy with the 2nd highest OBP on the team 9th, that makes sense.

Look at it this way…Hanigan will have a good chance to get on base in front of Cozart and Stubbs.

I predict that Votto, Heisey and Hannigan all gather 2-3 hits apiece. What those hitting in front of and behind them will be the x-factor of the game.

please Reds play like you are a major leaguer not like you don’t know you get paid for this.

Mark, Can you ask Dusty after the game why he didn’t play the infield in on ARod in the fourth inning. Why play for one run in the first inning (bunting) and then not do that on defense? I could see maybe trying to avoid the big inning if there were no outs, but with one out, the odds of that are less. Just curious, thanks.

Mark, I wouldn’t post after that game either. I just don’t understand Dusty! Clearly Arroyo was out of gas after Cano hit his homer 800 feet! Then Arod gets a single and it’s time to go get Arroyo. Arredondo was ready in the pen. Arroyo pitched great, he was just done after Cano! Thanks for another dumb Dusty decision!
