Bray to DL, Hoover up

Roster move by the Reds Tuesday…

LHP Bill Bray went on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 19, because of a strained left groin. RHP J.J. Hoover was recalled from AAA Louisville. Hoover, who was acquired in the April 1 trade that sent 3B Juan Francisco to the Braves, had a 2.00 ERA with four saves and 17 strikeouts in eight games totaling nine innings.

Given No. 60, Hoover will be making his Major League debut when he appears.

For Bray — this is the same injury that set him back during Spring Training.

Man….this season sucks! That’s what I get for having BIG expectations.

Wait, what happened to make your BIG expectations fail?
Curt

Have faith brotha

Haha…nothing yet! Just trying to bring my expectations back down to earth a lil…leave me alone…LOL. Excited to see what Hoover can do. But I really want to see Chapman in the rotation and and this makes that not even possible. At least the bullpen will still be very very strong. Pitching hasnt been the issue anyway, it’s scoring runs. Just hoping that when this lineup starts doing just that, we don’t get a let down from the rotation. Hopefully Latos can get back on track tonight against a team he very familiar with.

Bored at work – did some research. Francisco’s batting .276, slugging .690 (3 doubles, 3 HRs) in 29 at bats. He’s also fielding .824 – 3 errors in nine games. Alonso has exactly split AB’s at 1B in SD – 50 AB’s, hitting .208, with 3 doubles and no HR’s. I heard about Harang’s KO binge and thought he must be doing good; um, not so much – ERA over 6, just 16.2 innings in 3 games. Grandal and Boxberger are not on the roster in SD. Nor are Travis Wood or Dave Sappelt in Chicago,

perfect…let hoover close, move marshall to his 8th inning role and when bray gets back put chapman in the rotation…

sorry to see trouble with Bray, however maybe we will see who Hoover is, my reasoning is the Reds were wrong to move Francisco.

Ya, leave a ninth inning lead in the hands of a guy that has never pitched before in the majors. Great idea.
Curt

Yeah the Hoover closing idea is not something I want to see…at least this year. He may be the closer in waiting though. But Marshall is just fine in that role right now.

Agree 100%

Why is everyone so mad? The season just started!! Plus the cardinals are goin through injurys too. I hope Hoover can be solid. Relax on chapman people. As long as he’s in the bigs and pitching good I’m happy.

its interesting after what the Cardinals did last year how few Red fans respect this Red team to be able to rebound ,does that fact seem to be correct. The Reds were picked by some of the best baseball press people around, please give them a chance maybe a change of luck vs Giants will help.
