How bad is the third base position right now in the National League? Aramis Ramirez had a very down year and was considered the best at the position. Cmon Reds, get someone in there. Wood, Bailey, Heisey, and Hanigan for Zimmerman. Heck, give them Grandal too.

Some of that might reflect, as you assert, the NL’s serious dearth of quality third basemen, but some of it probably also results from the hot second half of the year that Ramirez enjoyed, largely overlooked because the Cubs were nowhere in sight. But I wouldn’t give up all that, or even a smaller portion of that, for Zimmerman. I hope Rolen can play a substantial amount next year, occasionally flashing the offensive contribution from 2010. And Francisco looks ready to play some now, even in the field!

Good for the Reds and for Phillips value increased if Reds choose to make a deal

I don’t know what to give up for him, but I would ** love ** to see Zimmerman pklaying third for the Reds!
