Reinforcements are here

Reds lineup vs. Phillies

Phillips 4
Renteria 6
Votto 3
Bruce 9
Francisco 5
Alonso 7
Stubbs 8
Hanigan 2
Leake 1

*Outfielder Fred Lewis cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Louisville. By my count, that leaves 39 men on the roster since Jeremy Hermida was taken off yesterday.

*Devin Mesoraco has been assigned No. 39 by the Reds, which was most recently used by Aaron Harang. Other luminaries that have worn 39 for the club have been Dave Parker and Joe Nuxhall. Less than luminary 39′s have been Josias Manzanillo, D.T. Cromer, Tim Belk and current Brewers manager Ron Roenicke.

*Dusty Baker said Mesoraco would spend a couple of days in the bullpen to learn the pitching staff and signs, etc

I would like to ‘like’ this post twice…for including Alonso today, and for cutting Lewis. In general it’s not fun to be happy when a man loses his job, buy when it’s just so obvious he can’t get it done…

I agree, but with that said, why do we still play our pitiful starting shortstops?? DFA Renteria, Janish, and freakin take Arroyo out of the starting rotation, along with Willis averaging almost 4 walks a game & 2br per inning! How do we look forward to the future when Dusty won’t play them to give us something to be happy about after a season of bigtime letdowns! Let Chapman start now to prove he can, he can’t be no more out of control than Willis has… Help me Mark, I’m losing my mind!!

To Mike Mc: It would appear you’ve already lost the battle to hold onto your mind with these prescriptions for the team.
