Not a robust day

It wasn’t a great afternoon at the yard for the Reds as they were 12-0 losers to the Indians. The bullpen gave up 11 of the runs and the defense committed five errors.

Some of the lines:

Cordero — 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Willis — 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K (35 pitches)
Masset — 1/3 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 balk
Chapman —  1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K (32 pitches/14 strikes)

“The pitchers had some tough days. Five errors, walks, a balk,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “That’s what Spring Training is for. Let’s get it out of here now. As well as we played yesterday, you can right turn around and play just as poorly the next day. It’s OK. We got a good look at a lot of guys.

This is completely unacceptable. If Masset is going to pitch this poorly all year then just send him to the minors now. I am not going to sit through another year of mediocre pitching from him. Sooner or later the Reds brass will make some moves in the offseason and improve this team. For now I am disgusted. This team will probably lose 95 games this year. Cellar here we come.

Totally kidding. Just getting you warmed up for the year Sheldon, ha. Go Reds.

Hahahaha! CurtOU, I thought you were being serious and I was revving up with a retort. You certainly got me.😛

Unfortunately, though, people ARE serious when complaining about the second freaking game in Spring Training. It’s really sad…

The first game reminded me how much fun the Reds were last year – never out of a game! But these games are beyond meaningless. If not, we would pencil Arroyo in for allowing 100 homers in 200 innings this year. Wow, a major league record!

Corky Miller strikes me as the kind of catcher who becomes a manager someday. Do the Reds plan to keep him in the organization after he stops playing?

They better keep Corky in the organization. He has AAA/MLB manager written all over him. I’d love to play for him.
