*Manager Dusty Baker was asked about the decision to bring up Carlos Fisher.

“There were a couple of guys that were throwing the ball well and deserving – especially [Jared] Burton and Chapman,” Baker said. “But we needed some length. That’s the one thing we were still missing in the bullpen when we sent Fish down. We didn’t have a guy that could go three innings comfortably and a guy that could save the bullpen for the next day and the next day. That’s what he gave us when he was here before.”

*One thing that makes sense to me when the Reds bring up Chapman, they’ll want to have as much control over the conditions and envrionment as possible. Having him come to big city Chicago, dealing with a cramped visitor’s clubhouse with no buffer from the media throng and the Wrigley Field crowd isn’t as optimal as having him come up in Cincinnati. There, he can be protected more.

ok, so i realize I’m in the minority here, but it’s time for Cordero to go. Quite honestly, i’d be fine with just about anyone else being the closer. I’d really like to see them bring up Chapman and try to convert him to a permanent closer, although i realize that the Reds want to turn him into a starter. but we have somehow an embarrassment of riches at starting pitching, what with Arroyo, Cueto, Volquez, Leake, Wood, and Bailey, and Lecure and Maloney at Triple-A. Meanwhile, the only really weak link in our bullpen is the guy whose supposed to be the lynchpin of the whole thing. It’s time to cut our losses with a guy who can’t throw the ball over the plate and convert our best prospect into a shutdown closer with triple-digit velocity.

Probably not putting this on the correct comment board, but hopefully the question can be answer. My question pertains to double headers and the beat the streak game. The rule I read is unclear. I want to pick Butler today and he is playing a double header. The rule says that the player must get a hit in each game for the streak to continue. My thinking is that this is worded improperly. In my opinion Butler should need to get a hit in either one of the two games for the streak to continue. Please advise
