Alonso to Carolina, play LF
The Reds have assigned their 2008 first-round Draft pick Yonder Alonso to Double-A Carolina, where he will primarily play left field, according to minor league director Terry Reynolds. Alonso will still get some time at first base.
Alonso was 2-for-16 (.125) in nine spring games and played either first base or DH. The Reds began exposing Alonso to left field in workouts and Reynolds told me on my last day in Goodyear that he was playing well there after he got sent out.
I will try to get more later…

Good. There’s a plan that will allow him to compete for a spot on the major league team.
